History

“Since the beginning, we recognized the way things turned out had less to do with us, than how God had blessed us. We think of giving not as a duty, but as a privilege, to share the blessings that we have received.”
Peter Ochs, Chairman of the Board

The Fieldstone Foundation was established in 1983 by Peter Ochs, Keith Johnson, and Dave Langlois (pictured left to right) as they embarked on a venture to create The Fieldstone Group of Companies, a collection of land development, home building, and real estate businesses which began constructing homes in 1981. The Fieldstone Foundation was created to carry out the philanthropic vision embedded in the Fieldstone culture since its founding. It continues to be based on strong values and to be guided by sound business practices.

Created as a separate organization, this independent structure has allowed the Foundation to adapt to changing economic realities throughout our thirty-one year history while maintaining our impact on the communities we serve. Originally funded solely by the profits of the Group of Companies, the Foundation now continues to carry out its mission with the financial assistance of others committed to supporting the human capital needs of the nonprofit sector.
